Six necessary things to have in life for healthy aging

If you want to age in a healthy way, there are a number of things you need in your life.
Nowadays we live at such a fast pace, and don’t live as consciously as we might like or is desirable.
1. Love
We all know we need love and we want to give love, but do you really make it a priority?
Do you even know what your priorities are?
Why not take a step back and see who you really give love to, and in a conscious way. It may feel uncomfortable at first, because we assume the people we love know, but saying it out loud or showing it in an active way does a lot of good. For the receiver AND for the giver. Maybe something you’d want to try?
2. Healthy relationships
We all have and need relationships, but have you gone through yours some time?
Have you evaluated if they do you good or are they energy suckers? And if they are the latter, are you still seeing this person? All good relationships should energize you, and if this isn’t the case, you may want to remove this person from your life?
Now I know that sometimes it’s easier said than done. If it’s your mum, for example, who completely drains you, I can imagine it’s not easy to not see her anymore.
So, maybe sit down and talk it through. And try to find a consensus on that.
Another thing you can do is change your perspective. Not easy again, but for the sake of a healthy life, something to think about.
3. Movement
And I’m not talking about going to the gym, jogging or whatever sports you can think of. No, I’m talking about getting more movement into your day.
Get up from the chair where you work all day, get off the couch and do things together with your kids, go for a walk outside in nature, set up a small vegetable garden and start getting your hands dirty.
It’s all about moving!
4. An open mind
Do you have a growth mind or a fixed mind? As we age we may think we have so much experience that a lot of times we already know it all. When you think like that you have a fixed mindset.
Please don’t fall into this trap!
If you do, it’s a pity because you’ll miss out on a lot of marvellous things happening around you.
Try to have an open mind. See things in a new way. Learn from younger people. Question your old belief systems and replace them with new one.
The world is constantly changing, you want to do the same.
5. Learning
And this one may seem the same, but I’m referring to real learning. Learn a new language, learn how to dance salsa, learn just any new skill. When you move the grey matter in your head, you’ll make new neurons, new neural connections, and that will do you good as you age.
Get out of your comfort zone, do something crazy!
Your brain will appreciate this loads 😉
6. Purpose
And this is a difficult subject for a lot of people because they think it has to be as big as saving the world. Not necessary at all. It can be as simple as being there for your children, or grandchildren.
It’s something that gets you out of bed. It’s something that makes you tick.
So try to think of something that fills your heart and start doing more of it!
I hope you want to age healthy also, I know I do and I am implementing these 6 necessities.
Sometimes really conscious, sometimes not so much, but I always try to do the best I can.
Journaling helps me a lot with this and it’s a good way to be more conscious in life.
